Ghana – Energy efficiency Labelling becomes mandatory on November 2nd, 2023

Please be informed that the new and updated regulations issued by the Energy Commission in Ghana, which cover the Energy Efficiency labeling of certain electrical appliances/equipment and renewable energy products (as outlined below), will come into force on Wednesday, November 2, 2023.

  • Clothes Washing Machines
  • Industrial Fans
  • Rice Cookers
  • Computers
  • Set-Top Boxes
  • Ventilating Fans
  • Solar Panels
  • Microwave Ovens
  • Storage Water heaters
  • Renewable Energy Batteries
  • Public Lighting
  • Improved Biomass Cookstoves
  • Television Sets and monitors
  • Electric Motors
  • Electric Kettles
  • Air conditioners
  • Distribution Transformers
  • Comfort Fans
  • Inverters
  • Light Emitting Diode and self-ballasted Fluorescent lamps
  • Set - Top Boxes
  • Refrigerating Appliances

Please ensure that you liaise with your importers to register the products with the Energy Commission of Ghana so that they can generate the appropriate Energy Efficiency Labels with the QR code, including their corresponding classes. These labels should be affixed to the products and their individual direct packaging at the country of export before requesting an EasyPass certificate (COC).
